| Glorious Goodwood Meeting
Tuesday 26 - Saturday 30 July
Summer in Sussex, and a feast of racing action from Goodwood is
one of the highlights of every flat season. If you can't take
a trip to the seaside to see for yourself, you can be sure that
William Hill are offering the best in online service throughout
the five days.
Goodwood offers something for everyone, from the top-class milers
in the Sussex Stakes, and the doughty stayers in the Goodwood
Cup, to the "cavalry charge" of Saturday's Stewards'
Cup - one of the great betting handicaps of the year. A unique
course, featuring sharp slopes and tricky turns, Goodwood nevertheless
attracts fields of the highest quality.
Soviet Song heads the betting for Wednesday's feature race, the
Sussex Stakes. Her Falmouth Stakes victory suggests the mare is
primed to repeat last year's neck victory over Nayyir. Her main
rival may well be Proclamation, who prevailed in a field of 21
to win the Jersey Stakes in last month's Royal Ascot at York meeting.
This race is now non-runner, money back (Rule 4 deductions may
apply).

Key Factors
Course Form: Goodwood and Galway are idiosyncratic courses, with
many course specialists. Previous form at either course can be
important.
Draw: High draws tend to hold an advantage at both courses -particularly
on races between 7 and 10 furlongs.
Jockeys: Both tracks are tight and right handed and jockeyship
is at a premium in obtaining the handy rail spot.
Ground: The forecast is very unsettled at Goodwood this week.
The ground is likely to be softer than usual, and this is likely
to have an effect on the times and also the draw advantage, particularly
on the Sprint Course.
