2010 winner Anders Hansen is Victor
Chandler's biggest liability in the lead up to
this week's Volvo PGA Championships at Wentworth.
It seems that the Dane's top industry quote of 40/1 has been
too good for punters to resist with odds man Richard Friend
admitting that the 33-year-old does have what it takes to prosper
around the prestigious par 72, 7,072 yard Surrey course.
"Hansen has been in superb form this season with four
top tens and three top twenty finishes and I wouldn't be surprised
to see him challenge on a course that suits his game,"
he said.
"But despite his record I will be holding at 40s for now
because there are some world class names ahead of him this week."
South Africa have a particularly strong hand with their three-pronged
assault at the top of the betting led by 9/2 Ernie Els, 22/1
Trevor Immelman and 25/1 Retief Goosen.
"Immelman lost the play-off here last year but clearly
likes Wentworth and arrives in great form after winning last
week's Deutsche Bank but again the fact that it is such a quality
field means I'm prepared to take him on at what is a top industry
quote," said Friend.
Vijay Singh, arguably the best player in the world on current
form, goes off as the firm's 7/1 second favourite.
Three time PGA Championship winner Colin Montgomerie, who won
the Singapore Open in March, is quoted at a joint-top 50/1 and
has also been supported. |
